The festive town of Malinalco:

The community is very festive and most festivities are religious, mainly with saints and virgins that they hold dear in the different "barrios" (areas of town). Music, fairs, fireworks, food and beverages are basic ingredients to this as well as flowers.

Although each has its own charm, the most spectacular festivity is on August 6th, where the entire town is indulged into thanking and celebrating their Patron Saint, the Divine Savior.
If you are lucky enough to be here many activities happen on that day. Aztec dancers dance in circles to the sound of the drums and horns dressed up in spectacular outfits with beautiful feathers, the "chinelos" dance to the sound of a cheerful band all over town with their colorful embroidered customs, the locals make their way all over town to the sound of music and disguised with the most outrageous themes, food, drinks and curiosities are sold all over town as the fireworks and church bells sound all day long. Certainly not a quiet day in town but one you will never forget and maybe will hold precious in your heart.

But August 6th is not the only festive day, Christmas and Holy Week are also special with their own charm and curiosities.
